Understanding AdSense

The best place to start is at the beginning and that’s in understanding what Adsense is really all about.

Adsense is a PPC (Pay-Per-Click) Publishing Program in which a webmaster (yourself) agrees to allow Google to place contextual or relevant ads on your web pages in exchange for paying you each time one of your visitors clicks an Adsense ad.
In the image below, you’ll see a typical example of Adsense integrated into an existing website (click here to visit that site.)

To display the ads, webmasters insert a JavaScript code block provided by Google into their web pages and upload them. Google then crawls or spiders the site, identifying words and phrases (Keywords) that match their advertiser’s ads and usually will deliver ads suitable and relevant to the content of your website.

It’s really as simple as that – Google does not charge anything for you to participate in the Adsense Publishing program and they are a reliable payer with an excellent reputation for paying on time.

If you’ve got an existing website with a decent amount of traffic, it’s not unreasonable to plug-in a few Adsense Ad Units and expect to generate $5 to $10 per day or more in Adsense Revenue.
